04.12.2007>> Transformers Are Almost Ready to Roll Out

Ironhide Yeah, yeah, it's been over a year since the last update. Considering only about 5 (give or take 5) people read this, it wasn't too bad of a wait, right? So, in the year 2006, there were a couple notable things... Robin finished his duties as a concept artist for "Medal of Honor: Vanguard" (previously known as "Airborne") and as a lead level artist for "Scooby Doo: Who's Watching Who" for the PSP (Yes, I know). In July, he began "Transformers: The Movie" for the PSP as a character/level artist. Being a huge transformers geek himself, it was an honor to work on characters such as Optimus, Megatron, Brawl, Ironhide, Hound, Sideswipe, etc. With a 1st week July 2007 release date, he's wrapping up with bug fixes to get the final approval from Sony.

05.26.2005>> Star Wars Battlefront II - Size Matters Not

Star Wars Battlefront II Savage Entertainment develops Star Wars Battlefront II for the PSP (This basically means Vik and Robin are doing all sorts of crazy stuff on it).

LucasArts will finally unleash its first handheld game this fall. While other companies have released handheld Star Wars games in the past, Star Wars Battlefront II for PSP is the first to actually be published by LucasArts. Developed by Savage Entertainment, Star Wars Battlefront II for PSP is similar to its recently announced console counterpart (see below) with space combat, playable Jedi, and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith content, yet it still boasts several distinct features meant to embrace the “on-the-go” nature of a handheld system. The game includes several unique mini-campaigns as opposed to the much longer campaign seen on consoles. Players can join the Rebellion as a smuggler, work for themselves as a mercenary for hire, or use their Imperial sniping skills to rid the galaxy of pesky species like Jawas, Ewoks and Gungans. Wi-Fi compatibility permits up to four players to join in at once, either cooperatively or competitively, and they can also partake in classic Instant Action mode to fight their favorite Star Wars battles any way they want to.

03.29.2005>> Robin Har to Produce for Lushwell and BK

Collaborations are beautiful things, especially if you have the priveledge of working with very talented artists. Robin Har of his one-man band, Opgave is currently producing tracks for lead vocalist, Lauren DeMichiei of Lushwell and new female rapping sensation, BK.

Lushwell - Lauren DeMichieiLushwell has been in existence since May 2002, first, as a straight-forward rock n' roll band. They have since grown to incorporate the cutting edge technologies of the electronic genre but keep rooted in more traditional sounds of acoustic and electric guitars. The newest album has stretched D.I.Y. capabilities, miles beyond the quality of a self-recorded and self-produced album. Eight months, free of touring, have gone into the development and writing, as well as, tracking and mixing of the project.

The product of their collaboration arrives at a "...melancholy yet sensual brand of electronic soul recalling vintage trip-hop."
--Ed Masley of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

Lushwell was named Top 10 Local Bands from 91.3FM WYEP.

BKBK stepped on the scene in Marin County freestyling with fellow classmates. She sings, she raps, she puts new flavor to tracks that need that something extra. Now 24, BK has stepped up production while working with The Fabulous Saturdays and the Cutty Route Collective out of Portland, OR. She brings lyrical content back into hip hop as she sets out to integrate her skills to become the next big thing.

Opgave - Robin Har"Opgave's tracks are moody and dark, but lightly decorated with a humble, hopeful melody. For the technically acute ears, the backdrop of drumbeats comparable to few (a steady march with a fluid groove that you can't help but bop your head to), the horns, strings, and other subtle samples pervade a rare mirage of hidden gems. Aesthetically, Opgave is hauntingly beautiful. Their music is indefinable, but it doesn't reek of the forced effort to be so. Opgave is original by nature. Whether you can appreciate it or not is of course, subjective. But the facts are stubborn things."

04.04.2004>> Vik Enlisted to Fight the War in Iraq

Full Spectrum WarriorOf course our headlines speak louder than the actual story, but it’s expected ’round these parts. Being a programmer of many wet feet, Vik’s been working with Pandemic to wrap up their latest project, Full Spectrum Warrior. ”Full Spectrum Warrior is based on a game commissioned by the U.S. Army to train light Infantry troops in urban combat situations. Soldiers are placed in a tense, hostile, and claustrophobic environment where they must complete a variety of military objectives.” With lotsa buzz surrounding Pandemic Studio’s AAA title, expectations are very high. FSW has already won tons of awards including Best Simulation (e3 2003), Most Innovative Design (IGN), and Best Original Game (Game Critics Award at e3). Xbox Magazine touts "[Full Spectrum Warrior] could easily be one of the best Xbox games of next year." Full Spectrum Warrior is slated for a June 1st release this year. For more info, click here.

03.11.2004>> Defect to D-Talks the Infected Mixtape World

Mixtapes have been around since the heydays of hip hop, with DJ's making tapes for their buddies and selling them to interested heads. Nowadays, it's become more of a marketable and well-known addition to today's hip-music culture. URB magazine recently reviewed D-Talks in their latest April issue, and it was well-received. "...panned scratches and cleverly matched phrases pulled from various songs ride the beats while Defect mixes in heat from the old and new schoolers. He then mellows things out w/ laid back head nodders giving your frenzied mind time to digest his turntable trickery. D-Talks is a well thought out chapter in the book of mixtapes." For the full but quaint review, check out the latest URB mag at your local newsstand. Guests on the mix include decorated DJs: DJ Quix, DJ Chopps, DJ Coy, and Viro's very own Robin (Rah) to mess things up a bit. Some songs included are from J5, Deltron, Blackalicious, Blacksheep, Black Eyed Peas, Portishead, Bjork, DJ Shadow, Cibbo Matto, and mucho mucho mas. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on a copy, we swear on Vik's life it will be one of the most creative, intentionally-chaotic, virtuosic display of musical talent and f$@#$'s the notion that a DJ is just a virtual jukebox. It's basically something we'd buy ourselves. It'll be a Viro release very soon, and the CD's are currently getting pressed.

Anyone with good-taste and is interested in purchasing D-Talks, please email us and we'll take some pre-orders. Once we settle on price, we'll get back to you.

02.03.2004>> Tyra Banks invites Danny for an Extreme Makeover

UPN's hit reality show, "America's Next Top Model" airs its next episode today at 9PM/ET and will feature "Onearth." "Onearth" is currently licensed to air at least 3 times throughout the show's second season. Licensed songs include "Glitch," "Onearth," "Lillith & Casandra," and "Fluidity." 01.2.2004>> Return of the DJ 5.5 to feature Defect and Quix

"Bomb Hip-Hop" record label helped spark the turntablist revolution in 1995 with the release of the first ever all dj/all scratching album RETURN OF THE DJ. Now scratching & dj’ing has gone mainstream, infiltrating rock and pop music and providing soundtracks for everything from movies to television commercials to video games. Danny and his good pal, Quix from the Throoperz have been selected to be in their upcoming release, RETURN OF THE DJ Volume 5.5, which includes the most talented and top DJs of today. Previous DJ's that participated included legends such as the Invisbl Skratch Piklz, members of the X-Men, Beat Junkies, Mixmaster Mike, DJ Babu, Cut Chemist, Mr. Dibbs, Z-Trip, Radar, and Kid Koala.

12.1.2003>> Viva La Viro

MTV's new show, "Viva La Bam" aired its first episode and featured 3 of Danny's songs. Further episodes will feature more of his work. Taken from his first album, "Phonosapiens- Phonosynthesis," the songs that aired were "Running Amuck," "Terraforming," and "Disorder." Check out the full song listing for the episode here. MTV's finally starting to know what's up, shoot.

02.21.2003>> ViroMedia's Very Own Defective DJ gets a girl named Roxy

I guess if you're as hot as Danny, then it's no problem. Either that fact, or a company finally has some sensibility hiring a hip marketing staff. If you're into surfing or extreme sports, you've heard of Roxy- known for its clothing line and surfing-related goods geared towards the gender that matters the most to us (no, not males). What's the point? Danny Ukishiro, aka "DJ Defect" landed a deal with Roxy, and they're currently using "Coffee at Table 9" for their current tv commercials. It's only a matter of time before you'll see more Defective music on the airwaves, the big screen, and on your crappy radio (currently playing crappy songs by...ahem Eminem). So watch Espn, Espn2, Espn3, Espn4, etc. and look for their current commercial. Rumor has it that Roxy's in the talks to make "Coffee at Table 9" their opening for their next movie. Oh, and one more plug-in... we'll be releasing Defect's new mix-tape entitled "D-Talks." As in "Detox." Get it? If you want to download "Coffee at Table 9," right click here and "save as."
